Lord Shiva

Soon after the creation of the universe, Lord Shiva is believed to have appeared as a pillar of fire, reaching outer space and originating in the depths of the earth. The auspicious and benevolent Shankara is symbolized in the Lingam, representing the pillar of cosmic power and light.

Nandi (the bull) is Lord Shiva’s vehicle, symbolizing the soul of man, the Jeeva, the yearning for Nirvana, the Paramatma.
